Short biography.
"The work of the day begins outside, with a walk, some sketches and the study of ancient Chinese poems. In the studio, my subject is always connected to nature, and my approach in art is to get as close as possible to life’s elements. Characters, drawings, and sensations join together to give dynamism and movement to the gesture which then carries it beyond the writing, beyond the form."
Virginie Cadart-Travadel first studied Chinese characters at the Institute of Eastern Languages in Paris (Inalco). She found herself fascinated by the signs which are linked to nature as well as to our senses. In 2001 she began learning calligraphy at Christine Dabadie-Fabreguettes’ studio in Avignon , and became a member of the Académie de Peinture Orientale de Paris .
Today, she belongs to Moukki, AAA-Avignon Ateliers d'Artistes, AIAS, and takes part in exhibitions in France, Italie, Korea , USA...: "l'esprit de l'encre", "Nijiiro Napoli-One mind and one heart", "Friendship" 6th Busan calligraphy biennale, "Gesture and beyond", "Brusched voices"...
She lives, works, and teaches calligraphy in Avignon, situated in the south of France.
